Marjorie Rose Van Hefty, 90, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sun Valley Homes II, Oconto. Marjorie was born August 5, 1923 in Oconto to the late Edward and Julia (LeBreck) Sherman. She married Clarence Van Hefty on October 30, 1943. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1997. Marjorie and Clarence owned and operated Clay Hill Holstein Farm for thirty two years. Marjorie was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Oconto. Marjorie is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Donald) Dumas, Lena; Cheryl Detaege-Bain, Hartford; Carol (Thomas) Quirt, Sheboygan; Beth (Russ Belongia) Larson, Oconto; a son, James (Chris) Van Hefty, DePere; a brother, Edward “Chum” Sherman, Oconto; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cota, Oconto; brother-in-law, Clem Harley, Lena; fifteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Lawrence Detaege and Vern Bain, and a granddaughter Melody Detaege. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 11 AM to 2 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:30 PM Wednesday, January 15, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. Thank you to the staff at Sun Valley Homes II, Marinette and Southern Care Hospice. A special thank you to Sara Kaluza for staying with and taking care of her grandmother during Marjorie’s last few days.
