Obituary for Jeanne Sowle

Jeanne Sowle, 72, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jeanne was born August 4, 1934 in St. Lawrence Belgium, Europe, to Edward and Alice (Rogeist) Windey. She married Garner ?Tarz? Sowle on May 21, 1955. Jeanne worked for Dr. Forrest Zantow and Dr. John Honish for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, where she was a Trustee, Elder and Deacon. Jeanne was a volunteer at the Weidner Center and the Botanical Gardens. Jeanne wove baskets, caned chairs, made many paintings, and was an avid gardener. Jeanne is survived by her husband Garner ?Tarz? Sowle, Oconto, a daughter Currie (Kevin) Dolata, Oconto three sons Russell (Rhonda) Sowle, Oconto; Steven (Judy) Sowle, Oconto; Glenn (Bonnie) Sowle, Oconto; mother Alice Windey, Oconto; a brother John Windey, Statford, VA; a sister Joanne Riepe, Muskego; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Edward Windey and a grandson Lucas Shallow. The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2007. Memorial services will be conducted 7 PM Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family. On line condolences may be expressed at In lieu of flowers a memorial for the Humane Society has been established.
