Obituary for William J. DeWindt

William “Billy” J. DeWindt, 63, Oconto, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2016. He was born June 3, 1953 in Oconto to the late Betty Fumelle DeWindt Birk and Orville “Wimpy” DeWindt. He married Nancy Rimple at Oconto City Park in 1979. Billy proudly served in the Army from 1971-1974. He worked at Packerland for many years. He was most known for being the local Oconto handyman. Oconto restaurants all knew him for his morning coffee visits. Billy enjoyed fishing and time with family and friends. He was definitely a kid at heart.

Billy is survived by his children, Kathy (Scott Palmer) DeWindt; Connie DeWindt; Robert (Jamie) Birk; Bobbi Jo (Perry) LaBarge-Birk; grandchildren, Devin and Drew Dickinson; Tayler, Alison, Bailey Birk; Schawntae, Kirkland; Deszerae Birk-Early; siblings, Jean (Lee) Rockwell; Susan (Russ) Sprenger; Dixie (James) Kaszinski; Penny Barribeau; John Birk; Lorene (Dave) Scheelk; Michael (Joan) DeWindt; Melva VanNorman. He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles “Chuckie” DeWindt, Robert M. Birk, Orville DeWindt Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, November 6, 2016. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 7 at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by Oconto American Legion Post #74. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
