Wayne “Weiner” Heimke, 82, passed away after complications of a stroke that he had on May 13th. Wayne was born to the late Norbert and Lois (Broker) Heimke. He married Karen Gunderson on August 1, 1964. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Abrams. Wayne served his country in the Army National Guard, 32nd Division. He gave Jackie Foster, Inc. over fifty years of dedicated service. Weiner loved to operate heavy equipment, but had a special passion for operating bulldozers. He could spend all day on it and it never felt like work to him. Many people requested him to do their excavation work, as he had an eye for precision on the jobs he did and made every pass of bulldozing, count. His Komatsu bulldozer was his life! Wayne helped break ground for the Dirt City Off Road race track, Lena. He was a quiet man who had pride in the work he did. He was still working up to the day before his stroke.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Karen Heimke; children and their children, Korey (Vicky) Heimke (Mason, Shawna and Marcel), Kerry (Charles) Imig, (Khloe and Keegan), Kasey (Sarah) Heimke (Luke (Taylor) Kranz, Kiara (Nate) Phalen (Ashlynne)), Franklin and Parker Heimke), Jennifer (Alex) Neta; siblings, Doris (Jerry) Hanson, Darrell (Judy) Heimke, Willard Heimke, Doreen (Robert) Krause, and Donna (Alvin) Cudnohosky; sister-in-law, Patricia Lade; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia (Robert) Lefevre; brothers, Harlan Heimke, William Heimke, sister-in-law, Charlene Heimke; and in-laws, Wilbur and Geneva Falk, and Burl Gunderson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Calvary Lutheran Church, Abrams, from 10 AM to 1 PM Saturday, June 12, 2021. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Matt Stuebs officiating. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given.
A special thank you to everyone who helped and cared for the Heimke family during this journey, especially the staff of Heartland Hospice.
