Terese Lynne (Terri) Trepanier passed away peacefully on May 15, 2013. She was born in Oconto on July 15, 1959 to Ralph and Florence (McIntosh) Trepanier. Although she was born with Down Syndrome and recently, Alzheimer’s, Terri enjoyed a long and happy life. She graduated from Degantown School and worked at New View Industries in Gillett for many years. Terri participated in Special Olympics and enjoyed traveling to Stevens Point yearly to compete at the state level. She was named Oconto County Special Olympics Athlete of the Year in a ceremony at The Radisson in Green Bay on August 15, 2005. Her Olympics medals were a highlight for her. She also loved spending a week or two at Camp Daniel, at Athelstane, during the summer. Terri enjoyed times spent eating out and “Sister Lunches”, other events at the Arena, Meyer Theatre and Weidner Center. She enjoyed bingo and local area casinos where she played the nickel slots. Terri watched sports on television and enjoyed some games in person. She had several signed autographs from the Packers, Brewers and Timber Rattlers. She was an avid word search puzzler, and ready to enjoy fishing anytime, although she didn’t like to take the fish off the hook. Terri is survived by two sisters: Arlene (John) Pacourek, Coleman; Carol (Rich) LeBreck, Lakewood; Nieces: Lisa (Ron) Schmidt, Lori (Kris Rolfhus) Pacourek, Shelly (Jeff) Tomany and Tara (Doug) Kohanski; Two nephews: Todd (Terri) Trepanier and Chad LeBreck; Great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Terri was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, a brother, Ken (Joyce) Trepanier, many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dan Schroeder, Jackie Witt, and the staff of Visions of Oconto County for their care and concern for Terri all these years. Beverly Beutler and all Terri’s caregivers at Superior House who were like a second family to her. Dawn Coors, her vigilant caseworker, who always found a way to get things done, Dr. Leong, and the many healthcare workers who helped Terri throughout the years. Several times she was on the verge of leaving us and with the dedication of those around her, she would come back and be ready to go for a cheeseburger and fries. We were all so thankful to have had Terri with us for almost 54 years. The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Monday, May 20, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. “She will be remembered for her tremendous strength and courage in her life, despite the health challenges she endured.” In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to New View Industries, Gillett, and Camp Daniel, Athelstane.
