Shirley A. Marsden, 77, of Marinette, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 6, 2015. Shirley was born January 14, 1938 in Sister Bay to the late Edward and Elvira (Johnson) Berns. She married James A. Christian on May 14, 1960. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1997. Shirley married Kenneth Marsden on April 15, 2004 in Tightwad, MO. Shirley worked at Waynes Family Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, riding her moped, hosting parties and cooking for her family. Shirley organized and ran St. Peters Annual Picnic for many years, where many enjoyed her famous hamburgers. She also helped organize many funeral luncheons, card parties and Christmas bazaars. Shirley was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and St. Anne’s Society. Shirley was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and her home was always open to her many family members and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Kenneth Marsden, Marinette; three daughters, Dawn (Bruce) Schroepfer, Oconto; Lynn (Larry) Behnke, Oconto; Vikki (Bobby) Stoddard, TX; two sons, Daniel Marquardt, Oconto; Jay (Rhonda) Christian, Menominee, MI; three step-sons, Rick Marsden MN; Steve (Rose) Marsden, Madison; Gary (Mary) Marsden, TX; fourteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Maurice Berns; two sisters, Verna VanDehei and Lucille Berns and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Marquardt.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 3 to 5 PM Monday, August 10, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted 5 PM Monday at the funeral home with Deacon Walter Kaszynski officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
