Obituary for Russell H. Nelsen
Russell H. Nelsen, 84, Oconto, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 with his family by his side at Sun Valley Homes, Oconto. Russell was born November 6, 1937 in Tomahawk to the late Harvey and Anne (Schreiber) Nelsen. He married Joyce Frosch on November 10, 1962. Russell worked for the Green Bay Fire Department for over 30 years and served his country in the US Army. He loved hunting, fishing and riding his Harley. Russell was a member of First American Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #74 and Oconto Golf Club mens league.
Russell is survived by his wife, Joyce Nelsen; daughter, Holly (Todd) Phillips; son, Eric (Amy) Nelsen; brother-in-law, Martin Griffith; four grandchildren, Dalton, Drake, Mason, and Brooke; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Griffith and two brothers, Dennis and John.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, April 28, 2022. Visitation will continue on Friday, April 29, from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery with Military Rites.
