Rose V. Zimanek, 88, former resident of Oconto, peacefully passed away on October 1, 2014 at Emeritus at Fox River, Appleton, where she had resided since April 2012. Rose was born April 6, 1926 in the town of Chase to the late Stanley and Sophie (Wojteczko) Czachor. On January 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to Carl Zimanek in Pulaski and their union lasted almost 66 years until Carl’s death on January 8, 2012. Over the years Rose enjoyed waitressing at local restaurants, working in her home that included many years of helping Carl in their upholstery business which she took great pleasure in assisting customers find the perfect fabric for their treasured piece of furniture. Rose was also involved for many years serving for funeral lunches and was a past member of St. Anne’s Society first through St. Peters Parish and then Holy Trinity Parish after the 2 churches merged.
Rose is survived by her son, Jim (Kay), Appleton, and their two children, Jason (Jackie) and their daughter Samantha Rose; Mark (Michelle) and their son Matthew James; a daughter-in-law, Brenda, Oconto; sister-in-law, Bernadine Zimanek, brother-in-law, Paul Pitroski and many dear nieces and nephews that were very special to Rose. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Carl; son, Kenneth; sisters, Bernice, Julia, Jeanette, Mary; brother, Henry and her dear sister-in-law, Adeline Pitroski.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Monday, October 6, 2014 with the Rosary by St. Anne’s Society at 9 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. Bob Karuhn officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
