Obituary for Roland 'Chip' Carriveau
Roland "Chip" P. Carriveau, 85, of Oconto, passed away Monday, August 24, 2009 at his home. Roland was born August 4, 1924 in Oconto to the late Peter and Viola (Westcott) Carriveau. He married Barbara Larmay on October 2, 1982. Roland served in the U.S. Marines from 1942-1945. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1965. Roland was a member of the D.A.V., V.F.W., American Legion Post #74 and Oconto Masonic Pine Lodge #188.
Roland is survived by his wife Barbara, Oconto; three sons James (Martha) Sarder, TX; Roland (Lisa) Carriveau, CA; Thomas Carriveau, AZ; a sister Lois "Tedo" Magiary, Oconto; two half sisters Doris Lipp, Oconto; Judith (Jerry) Premysl, Oconto; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Milton "Squirrel" Carriveau and two half brothers Thomas Roberts and Lester Roberts.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 12 Noon to 2 PM Thursday, August 27, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion Post #74. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net
