(Civil Air Patrol) as a pilot with his own plane. Shortly after that he was promoted to the rank of Major and became the Group Commander over seven countries. After several years he retired and in 1965 sold his last airplane after flying about 2000 hours. Robert enjoyed deer and antelope hunting. He taught Navigation at the Naval Reserve.
