Obituary for Robert J. Johnson

Robert (Bob) James Johnson passed away on Saturday April 3rd surrounded by his loving family, after a very courageous battle with Myastemia Gravis and heart disease. Robert was born on July 26th 1940 in Oconto, WI to Paul and Mathilda (Mehltrettor) Johnson. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alvina (Gove) Johnson. They had a wonderful life together and she will miss him so much. Robert was born and raised in Oconto, WI. He married Alvina Gove on February 27th, 1960 in Lena, WI. They lived in Oconto until Bob retired in 2006 when they moved up to their retirement home in Athelstane, WI. Many people will remember Bob from his 45 years at Cruisers Yachts in Oconto, WI. Bob loved the outdoors - boating, snowmobiling, riding his ATV, and sitting at the beach “bird” watching. He really enjoyed taking his grandchildren water-skiing and tubing behind his boat. He also enjoyed teaching people how to waterski with his daughter at Landing 9. He loved going to the hunting shack with his son for deer hunting and having fun. Bob was always willing to give a helping hand. He enjoyed helping his kids work on their homes and we will always remember to measure and level when working on our houses because of him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Alvina Johnson; son, Robert (Dawn) Johnson Jr. - Arbor Vitae WI, daughter, Patricia (Herb Haney) Johnson - Green Bay, WI, grandchildren, Tiffany (Michael) Skaggs - Kaukauna, WI, Michael (Alicia) Vande Ven - Madison, WI, Amber (Kyle) Skaggs - Appleton, WI and great-grandchildren, Blake Skaggs, Jaxon Dickert, Parker Skaggs, Marek Skaggs, Grant Skaggs, Cody Vande Ven, Aurora Vande Ven, and Kailyn Vande Ven as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mathilda Johnson, brothers, Paul (Billy) Johnson, Jr, John (Jack) Johnson, Francis (Franny) Johnson, and his grandson, Paul Robert Vande Ven.

There will not be a funeral service at this time, there will be a celebration of Bob’s life in July 2021. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
