An avid outdoorsman, local historian and storytelling extraordinaire was called home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Robert E. Presl was born on October 22, 1931 to the late Frank Jr. And Kathryn (Dagen) Presl. Bob married Margaret McMahon on January 15, 1955. Bob worked for the Chippewa Railroad during his high school years because of the shortage of manpower during World War II. He graduated from Oconto High School in 1949. Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from January 9, 1952 through January 6, 1954 during the Korean Police Action. After his years of service Bob worked for Thompson Brothers boat Factory in Peshtigo, Wisconsin coming to Cruisers Boat Factory in Oconto. Bob ended his boat factory employment and entered into the carpenter trades. He worked for many construction companies, including Selmar, Miron, and Boldt Construction. He worked 39 years in the carpenter trades. In addition, Bob worked side jobs roofing and painting. Bob loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and trapper. There wasn’t an animal paw print he couldn’t identify. He was a member of the American Legion. Bob’s greatest joys were family events, especially spending time with grandchildren.
Bob is survived by two sons, Bob and Mike Presl; daughters, Karen (Allen) Lefevre, Kathryn (Aaron) Jarvey; son-in-law, Tom Belongia and special friend Peg Mueller; 7 grandchildren, Heidi Belongia, Andy (Emily-Green) Belongia, Robert Shane Presl, Ben (Krystal) Lefevre, Hollie (Jason) Viestenz, Maggie (Kelby) Cook, and Jakob Jarvey; 12 great-grandchildren, Drew and Alek Green-Belongia, Lily, Abby, and Mary Lefevre, Tionna Wayka, Jaden and Brook Viestenz, Kaelyn, Kyler, Kinley and Kase Cook, one sister, Carol Leigh; and one sister-in-law, Betty Lesandrini. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Linda Belongia, granddaughter, McKayla Jarvey, and two brothers, William and Donald Presl.
