Obituary for Rita M. Leonard

Rita M. Leonard, 85, of Pensaukee, passed away April 19, 2009 with her family at her side, after a long illness. Rita was born January 10, 1924 in Oconto to the late Leigh and Winifred (Snyder) Beaucock. She married Kermit Leonard on November 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2005. Rita graduated from Oconto High School and Secretarial school in Green Bay. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper most of her life at Oconto Co. Social Services, First National Bank of Oconto, Riverside Nursing Home and E.C. Swaer & Son.
After retiring she learned to play bridge, which became her passion. She played in 3 bridge clubs and when she became ill her first concern was having to miss bridge. Rita was a lifelong member of the first Presbyterian Church of Oconto and a past Deacon and Elder, a member of the Morning Circle Group and the Presbyterian Women Assn.. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Rita is survived by a daughter Barbara Leonard, Pensaukee; a son Robert (Jill) Leonard, Sturgeon Bay; granddaughter Sarah (Declan) Green, and great grandson Seamus Robert Green, sister-in-law Lois Leonard, Escanaba; and life long friend Dolores \"Pug\" Saucier. Along with her husband and parents Rita was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Beaucock.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Saturday, April 25, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery.
