Obituary for Richard Krueger

Richard J. Krueger, 75, of Oconto, died Thursday March 2, 2006 at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls. Dick was born February 10, 1931 in Oconto to the late Harold and Doris (Kobin) Krueger. He married Marilyn Matravers on January 30, 1954 and recently celebrated 52 years of marriage to Marilyn. Dick owned and operated Krueger Law Firm for over 50 years, continuing the business after the passing of his father, the founder. His dedication to the law profession included his role as City Attorney for the City of Oconto, District Attorney and Family Court Commissioner for Oconto County. He was active in the county and state Republican Party, and served as President of the Oconto County Bar Association who recently recognized him for 50 years of outstanding service. Dick loved the outdoors and got as close to it as possible through his love of flying small planes and riding Harley-Davidsons. He was the initial President and a founding father of the local Ducks Unlimited chapter, participated in the Sportsman?s Club and the creation of the Wildlife Refuge in Oconto. As one of his many entrepreneurial pursuits, he was founder and President of Susie?s Hill, Inc. Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, where he served on all boards over the course of his membership including his roles as trustee and elder, as well as regular choir member and Sunday School teacher. Dick contributed to the leadership of both the Kiwanis club and the Masonic Pine Lodge #188 through which he was often able to highlight the need for support for the Association for Retarded Citizens and Special Olympics in honor of his son, Stephen. At the time of his death, Dick was serving as a Board Member for the Oconto Humane Society. Dick is survived by his wife Marilyn, Oconto; two daughters Joan Krueger, Gilbert, AZ; Julie Krueger, Gilbert, AZ; one son Stephen Krueger, Green Bay; and one sister Alice (Richard) Bentz, Lakewood. He is preceded in death by one brother Kobin Krueger. The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 10 to 12 Monday March 6, 2006. Memorial services will be conducted 12 noon at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family.
