Obituary for Mildred Van Hefty

Mildred ?Millie? Van Hefty, 92, Oconto, died Friday May 5, 2006 at Woodlands Nursing Home, Oconto. Mildred was born April 1, 1914 in Stiles to the late Roy and Gertrude (McIver) Mc Allister. She attended McQuever Grade School in Stiles. Mildred married the late Claude Van Hefty Sr. on October 15, 1932 in Oconto. They operated the family dairy farm on Cream City Rd., Oconto, for 40 years. Mildred was a member of St. Joseph?s Altar Society, Oconto. Millie loved crocheting, baking, gardening and canning. The family historian, she had an uncanny ability to recall minute details about people, dates and occasions. Millie was a very outgoing and generous person; no visitor ever left Millie?s home without at least a pair of crocheted slippers or a fresh-baked loaf of bread. Millie is survived by three sons Claude (Karen) Van Hefty Jr., Marinette; Don (Sandy) Van Hefty, Marinette; Richard (Gloria) Van Hefty; Peshtigo; and one sister Joyce (Chris) Dalton, Salt Lake City, UT; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Claude, Millie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Robert, Lee, John, and Millard, three sisters Florence, Elizabeth and Margaret. The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Parish, Oconto from 9 to 11 AM Monday, May 8, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family.
