Michael J. “Spunk” Hebert, 66, of Oconto, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Michael was born January 23, 1949 to the late Earl and Jane (O’Connor) Hebert. Michael served his Country in the US Army during Vietnam. He worked as a Police Officer for the Oconto County Sheriffs Department and also was part of the dive team. Michael enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing horseshoes, RC helicopter and planes, and was an auto enthusiast. Michael enjoyed coffee clutching with all his friends. He also enjoyed vacationing a couple times a year in Florida. Michael loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Oconto Sportsman Club and American Legion Post #74.
Michael is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Nathan) Stamsta, Oconto; Molly Hebert, Green Bay; a son, Joe Hebert, Green Bay; significant other, Sue Schmit, Oconto; two sisters, Teresa (Dave) Piquett, Hartford; Vicky (Bob) Kline, Waukesha; a brother, Bill (Crystal) Hebert, Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Addison and Owen Stamsta, Weston Hebert, and his pet lab “Gibbs”. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Chesrown.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 1 to 3 PM Friday, September 11, 2015. Memorial services will be conducted 3 PM Friday at the funeral home with Deacon Walter Kaszynski officiating. Military Rites by American Legion Post #74.
