Obituary for Merlin Reim

Merlin C. Reim, 83, passed away Monday, April 4, 2005 at Woodland Village Nursing Home, Oconto after a short illness following a stroke. He was born in Green Bay, WI to Reinhold and Johanna (Schubring) Reim on July 4th, 1921. He spent his first 5 years with his grandmother in Forrest Junction, then returned to his home in Abrams on the Homestead farm where he spent several years farming. After farming he worked for the H. F. Hurlbut Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1985. Merlin married Mary Johnson Carey on July 16, 1983, sharing nearly 22 joyful years together residing in Brookside. Merlin was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Abrams where he served as an usher. Merlin is survived by his loving wife, Mary and eight children. Four daughters; Patricia (John) Senn, Stiles; Mary Ellen Wranosky, Oconto Falls; Linda (Jerry) Yatso, Suamico; Ruth Ann Reim, Green Bay; four sons; James (Margie) Reim, Fond du Lac; Daniel (Margaret) Reim, DeForest, WI; Thomas (Mary Mike) Reim, Bismarck, ND; Rick (Patti) Reim, McDonough, Georgia; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three step-children, Jerry (Mary) Carey, Oconomowoc; Beverly (Donald) Fiedler, Silverthorn, CO; and Margaret Splitgerber, Green Bay; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great grandchildren; a brother Eldred Reim; two sisters Rachael (Harold) Bramschreiber, and Dorothy Leemon, all of Green Bay. He is further survived by in-laws, Maynard (Margo) Johnson, Casco; Patricia (Antone) LeComte, Green Bay; Ethel Townsend and Norbert Ganter, Crivitz. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers in-law and two step grandchildren. Friends may call at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 to 8:30 P. M. Thursday, April 7, 2005. Prayer service will be 7:00 P. M. Thursday at the funeral home led by Deacon Walter Kaszynski. Visitation will continue at St. Louis Catholic Church, Abrams, Friday April 8th from 10:00 A. M. until 11:00 A. M. . Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A. M. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Abrams with Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Merlins name.
