Max H. Rovinski, 82, of Abrams, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI. Max was born January 8, 1927 in Pensaukee to the late William and Sophie (Kozielec) Rovinski. He married Elaine Kennin on November 30, 1950 and were married for 50 years. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2001. Max served his country in U.S. Army. He enjoyed golf, bowling, cribbage, and especially sharing his garden with his friends. Max was a devout Catholic and served as trustee for St. Louis Catholic Church, Abrams. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Abrams Town Chairman. Max will be deeply missed by his family, but now can rest peacefully.
Max is survived by two daughters; Maxine (Shawn) Nehmer, Windsor; Pam (Richard) Lemirande, Sobieski; a sister Stella Wixon, Green Bay; two sisters-in-law Irene Rovinski Green Bay; Rosie Rovinski, Green Bay; three grandchildren Justin (Jennifer) Lemirande, Elizabeth Lemirande and Caitlin (Peter) Rondello. He is also survived by a special relative Stella Kennin. He was preceded in death by four brothers Edward, Rudy, Joseph, and Theodore Rovinski and two sisters Verna Kozlowski and Emily Bartella.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the St. Maximilla Kolbe Catholic Church, Sobieski, from 9 to 10:45 AM Saturday, September 26, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Gerald Prusakowski officiating. Burial will be at the St. John Cantius Cemetery with Military Rites by the Machickanee American Legion Post #523. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family. A special thank you to the staff in the special care unit at King for their care and kindness. Also special thanks to Father Paul VandenHogan who remained dads friend for many years and especially during his stay at King.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established.
