Mary L Wojner, 74, of Oconto, WI passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021 with her family by her side. Mary was born June 15, 1947 in Oconto to the late Lyle and Carol (Gauthier/Shallow) Reed. She married Gerald (Gerry) J. Wojner on June 15, 1968. In her lifetime she had several different jobs all related to caring and serving others. She was a beautician at Bernice’s for several years, a cook at Wayne’s Family Restaurant, and her all-time favorite job working with Ron and Yvonne Gegare at Cream City Supper Club. Mary had a way with kids. Maybe because she was kid-sized herself, but children loved her because she gave them so much attention and had a way of making them feel special. She loved to cook and bake goodies to share with her neighbors. Nothing beat the smell of her fresh baked bread in the house. Her favorite past time was cheering for her two grandchildren. Whether it was sporting events, academics or just things in life that were important to them, she was their biggest fan. She was not a shy or quiet fan. Everyone knew when Mary was in the stands. They could even hear her on occasion in South Dakota “cheering” for her Packers. Her Catholic faith was strong and helped her in her final days of life here on earth.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Gerry Wojner; two brothers Bob (Vonnie) Shallow and Jim (Tammy) Shallow; daughters Tina (Shawn) Porath and Dr. Teri (Dr. Jeff) Kramer; and the two most important people in her world, her grandchildren, Katrina Salewski and Kolter Kramer; three nieces, Michele, Lori, and Jenny and one nephew Jake. Our family may be small, but it extended into many loved ones who called her “mom” and “grandma” and “auntie”, and she cherished them all as if they were her own. She was preceded in death by her stepfather Norbert (Doug) Shallow, mother Carol Shallow, nephew Lucas Shallow and her father Lyle Reed.
The family will receive family and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 10 AM to 12 Noon, Friday August 13, 2021. Memorial services will be conducted Friday 12 Noon at the church with the Rev. Francis Nusi and Rev. Bob Karuhn officiatintg. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
