Mary E. Schultz (Exferd), 67, of Oconto, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay. Mary was born July 11, 1947 in Oconto to the late Alvin and Ruth (Mack) Exferd. She married John Schultz on October 23, 1965. Mary drove school bus for the Oconto public schools for over thirty years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Oconto. Mary was active with the church serving as president of the cemetery board and chair person of the annual turkey dinner for many years. She was a fixture at many high school activities with bus driving and score keeping. Mary lived her life around her grandchildren and enjoyed every minute she had to spend with them. As a result of opening their home to many students, Mary has children scattered around the world that will greatly miss her. She also enjoyed swimming, camping, playing cribbage, cards and dominoes.
Mary is survived by her husband, John Schultz, Oconto; two daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Melland, Oconto; Lisa (Steve) Slaby, Sobieski; a son, Rick (Shelly) Schultz, Oconto; sisters, Betty (Fran) Warrichaiet, Pat (Lenny) Dorner; brothers, Mike (Lynn) Exferd, Clayton (Beverly) Exferd; grandchildren, Christopher and Travis Melland, Adam and Amanda Schultz, Rachel and Tessa Slaby; sisters-in-law, Chris Exferd, Diana (Ron Meyer) Graykowski, Patsy (Ron Yauger) Grainger; brothers-in-law, Bob (Jean) Schultz, Jerry Springstroh. She was preceded in death by sisters, Karin Springstroh, Janet Exferd; brother, Jim Exferd; brothers-in-law, Stanley Graykowski, Richard Schultz; nephew, Peter Exferd.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 with prayer services by Deacon Walter Kaszynski at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 19, form 10 to 11 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Bob Karuhn officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
