Obituary for Marvin Sikma
Marvin Sikma, 77, of Little Suamico, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay. Marvin was born February 16, 1933 in Wichert, IL to the late Jacob and Jenny (Koopman) Sikma. He married Shirley Boomsma on June 23, 1955 at First Reformed Church, Wichert, IL. Marvin served on the church board and sang solos, duets, quartets, and in multiple choirs at the First Reformed Church, Wichert, IL and also at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto. Marvin served in the US Army from April, 1953 to April, 1955. Family was number one in Marvins life. Marvin enjoyed working on the family farm, he also enjoyed boating, hunting and golfing. Marvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, and the Oconto County Gideons.

Marvin is survived by his wife Shirley Sikma, Lt. Suamico; a daughter Debra Brugger, Black Creek; three sons Donald (Barbara) Sikma, Oconto; Duane (Kelly) Sikma, Lt. Suamico; Daniel (Carol) Sikma, Forestville; a brother Harold (Nonita) Sikma, St. Anne, IL; two sisters-in-law Nelvie Sikma, Momence, IL; Grace Sikma, Seattle, WA; a brother-in-law Jacob (Verdell) Salm, St. Anne, IL; eight grandchildren Jason (Rachelle Reed) Sikma, Jamie Sikma, Ryan Sikma, Renee (Aaron) Wallin, Laura Brugger, Airman Michael (Sheila) Brugger, Sharon (Jude) McCully, Derek Jess, and one great grandchild Jillian Wallin. Marvin is preceded in death by a sister Wilhelmina Salm, two brothers Bernie Sikma, Clarence Sikma, and a son-in-law Laverne Brugger.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 PM Sunday, July 11, 2010. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 12, from 10 to 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery. On line condolences may be expressed at
