Obituary for Marion R. Lane

Marion R. Lane, 87, Oconto, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Woodland Village in Oconto. She was born August 11, 1924 in Oconto to the late Peter and Mary (Pionkoske) Angelich. Marion married Russell “Red” Lane on May 8, 1946 at Saint Joseph Church in Oconto. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2004. Marion’s passion for baking and cooking began with her parents who owned the Oconto Home Bakery. Marion enjoyed working for many years at the 14 Karat Shop and driving school bus for Hoppe Bus. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. Marion was very creative, had a green thumb, loved to crochet, a great story teller, watching Lawrence Welk, collecting clowns and doing the chicken dance at weddings. She was also well known for her homemade candies and caramels. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Marion is survived by her daughter Bonnie Polczinski, Pulaski; son Robb (Brenda) Lane, Oconto; six grandchildren, Tyler Lane, Melissa (Jeremy) Lade, Lane Polczinski, Katie Polczinski, Alex Lane and Ryan Lane; one sister Katy (Alfred) Turco, Kenosha; three sisters-in-law Harriet Angelich, Green Bay; Beverly Angelich, Oconto; and Mary Angelich, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by sisters Agnes Angelich and Bonnie Aubry, brothers Louis Angelich, Peter Angelich, Leon (Pege) Angelich and son-in-law Patrick Polczinski. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 AM Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Oconto Public Library which Marion has been a member of since she was a young child. Marion’s family would like to thank the staff at Woodland Village of Oconto and Unity Hospice for their wonderful care and concern given to her.
