Obituary for Mabel Althea DePouw

Mabel Althea DePouw, 90, Oconto, went to be with her Savior and Lord on May 6, 2010 after a brief illness. Mabel was born to Alex and Bernice Kriewaldt on March 24th, 1920. She married Louis DePouw on March 27, 1943. She worked with him on the family farm and as a Legal Secretary in a law office, but her highest calling was that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mabel was a faithful member of the Oconto Gospel Chapel. She taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent and church organist for many years. Her home was always open to missionaries, family and friends. Serving others was a delight to her.

Mabel will be greatly missed by her son Wayne (Barb) DePouw, Clearwater, FL, a daughter Marilyn (Tom) Henry, Oconto, Mary Ann and Leonard Monette , Abrams, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, Son, Don, and sister, Althea Eudy.

Everybody loved Mabel because she accepted everyone unconditionally and demonstrated Gods love to them through her generosity, kind words, and hospitality. She wanted everyone to have the same special relationship with God that she has.

Friends may call at the Oconto Gospel Chapel on Saturday, May 8th from 9-11 AM with funeral services at 11:00 A. M. with Rev. Dale Eudy officiating and burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Lake Lundgren Bible Camp. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family.
