Obituary for Linda L. Green
Linda L. Green, 79 of Oconto passed away early Sunday morning, November 8, 2020, at Care Partners in Oconto under Hospice care. Linda was born October 4, 1941 to the late Southgate and Rita Green. She grew up in Gwinn, Michigan and received her Bachelor and Master degrees from Northern Michigan University. Her father was a General Practitioner, her brother a Surgeon, and her mother an RN so it was only natural that she would major in Science. After college she worked in a medical lab in Ann Arbor, Michigan but then decided to try teaching. Her first teaching position was at a boy’s school in Australia. Then in 1978 she accepted a Science teaching position at Oconto High School and taught there until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed teaching, her students and co-workers.
Linda loved her log home “in the woods” and the nature that went with it, always welcoming friends. There she raised Doberman show dogs – they were her babies and won many ribbons over the years. Linda had a flare for painting. She took classes, learned the art of blending colors and eventually framed her many pieces. Linda also enjoyed traveling, decorating her home, dressing for different Holidays/seasons, a good book, plays, movies, cooking, good conversation, shopping, and dining out with friends. She enjoyed politics, talk radio, and served as Clerk for the Town of Little River. She was involved in the Oconto Education Association, served on the Oconto School Board after retirement, and was treasurer for the Ruby Red Hatters.
Linda is survived by her very special friends Brian and Karla Zoeller and their children Oliver and Evelynne, her many teacher friends over the years, all the ladies from the Ruby Red Hatters, the Curves group, the Nutter Dome group, the Breakfast group, Book Club, Cooking Group, and all of her good and helpful neighbors. Over the years she was often included in family gatherings with many close friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Southgate and Rita Green, and her brother Southgate William Green.
In the last few years of Linda’s life she faced some challenging medical issues but she was able to continue doing the things she enjoyed because of the help of many loyal friends. Thank you to Joanie and the staff at Care Partners of Oconto for your kindness and care of Linda, and also to the doctors and nurses that helped her over the years. A private prayer service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at
