Obituary for Lester Carey

Lester E. Carey, 80, of Oconto, passed away Tuesday July 5, 2005 at Woodland Nursing Home, Oconto. Lester was born August 27, 1924 in Couillardville to the late Frank and Louise (Jarvey) Carey. He married Rita Wellens on May 5, 1951 at St. Patrick Church Stiles. Lester hauled milk for his brother Norbert, starting at the age of 14. Lester owned and operated Les?s Phillips 66 Service for 25 years. He then worked for the Oconto School District as custodian for many years, retiring in 1994. Lester enjoyed the Packers and will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Lester was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Knights of Columbus. Lester is survived by his wife Rita, Oconto; four daughters Diane (James) Younger, Oconto; Karen (Ron) Tappa, Oconto Falls; Joanne (Gary) Moody, Abrams; Anne (Tim) Burie, Abrams; three sons David (Debbi) Carey, Lt. Suamico; Kevin (Barb) Carey, Oconto; Rich Carey, Oconto; two sisters-in-law Mary Reim, Brookside; Grace Lutz, Green Bay; 21 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by five brothers Norbert, Pat, Jack, Anthony, and Jim Carey, five sisters Myrtle Carey, Alice Matravers, Helen Daul, Katie Young, and Loretta Lemirande. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 PM Thursday July 7, 2005 with prayer services by Walt Kaszynski at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 10 AM at Holy Trinity Parish with the Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
