Obituary for Laverne Hanop

Laverne ?Butch? (Moody) Hanop, 78 of 5878 Main St., Abrams, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday October 17, 2005. Laverne was born December 19, 1926 in Oconto to the late Joseph and Mary (Hanna) Wachal. She married Delano Moody, he preceded her in death. She then married Fred Hanop, he also preceded her in death. Laverne was Co-Owner of Hanop Oil Co., Town of Abrams Treasurer for 38 years, on the Oconto County Board for 16 years, Treasurer for Abrams Sanitary District, and Circuit Treasurer for Abrams/Oconto United Methodist Church. Laverne will be most remembered for her fudge, pies, crocheting, and card playing. Laverne was a member of United Methodist Church, Abrams. Laverne is survived by three daughters Susan (Moody) Selissen, Green Bay; Karen Hanop, Green Bay; Pat (Wayne) Galien, Lt. Suamico; four grandchildren Brandon (Jenni) Selissen, Brian Hanop, Andrea and Danielle Galien, one great-grandchild Ian Selissen. She was preceded in death by one son Michael Moody, two brothers Norman Wachal, George Wachal, and one sister Lillian Moravec. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4:30 to 8 P.M. Wednesday October 19, 2005. Visitation will continue on Thursday October 20 from 10 to 11 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Abrams. Funeral services will be conducted 11 A.M. at the church with the Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating. On line condolences may be expressed at A memorial fund will be established.
