Kenneth W. Brehmer, 86, Abrams, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, surrounded by his family, at Oscar Johnson VA Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer. Ken was born April 9, 1931 in Abrams to the late Carl and Mildred (Vanden Bush) Brehmer. He married Ruth Kucik on July 24, 1954. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2015. Ken served his Country in the US Army during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart in 1950. He worked at Paper Converting Machine Corp for twenty four years and Milwaukee Electric Tool for twelve years, retiring in 1993. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, making maple syrup and woodworking and making things for his grandchildren. He was a member of Riverview Alliance Church, Oconto Falls, Stiles American Legion, V.F.W. and DAV.
Ken is survived by five children, Daniel (Frances) Brehmer; Donna (Carl) Asplund; Doreen (Ronald) Ripley; Darell (Carol) Brehmer; Dawn (Terry) Herlache; three sisters, Vi (Bill) Vincent; Joyce Hopfensberger; Carol (Marv) Smits; a brother, David (Rosie) Brehmer; two sisters-in-law, Gerri Brehmer; Betty Brehmer; a brother-in-law, Roger Schmitt; thirteen grandchildren, Andrew Brehmer, Carlleen Brehmer, Sackett Brehmer, Melody (Andy) Heleniak, Samantha Asplund, Casey Asplund, Ronnie (Katie) Ripley, Jamie (Dale) Bratz, Sean Ripley, Taylor Brehmer, Kendell Brehmer, Stephanie Herlache, Sarah (Chris) Dekeyser; ten great grandchildren, Malayla and Hendrix Heleniak; Lucy and Stella Ripley; Nola Bratz; Bentley Brehmer; Landen, Owen and Eli Dekeyser; Max Davidson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hank, Wesley, Roger Brehmer; two sisters, Ann Schmitt and Viola McGovern.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Riverview Alliance Church, Oconto Falls, from 9 to 11 AM Thursday, June 1, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Kevin Kuhn officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery with Military Rites.
