Obituary for Josephine M. Carlson

Josephine M. "Jo" Carlson, of Oconto, found eternal peace on December 17, 2009 at the age of 94. Josephine was born May 3, 1915 in Oconto to the late Joseph and Alvina (Swan) Young. Josephine was preceded in death by husbands Roy O. Carlson and Edmund F. Splinter. As a life long resident of Oconto, Jo spent 65 years as a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served many years on the Okato Manor Board, always working tirelessly to enhance everyday life in her beloved hometown. Her compassion and kindness were evident to everyone who had the good fortune to know her. Jos absence will leave a void in many hearts, but the memory of her goodness will forever remain alive.
Jo was the loving mother of Mavis (Ron) Jankowski; grandmother of Cynthia (Gary) Sneyd; Darcy Milan and Shawn (Diane) Milan. Devoted great grandmother of Ellen (Kevin), Rachel, Courtney, Michael, Garrett, Megan and Vincent. Further survived by dearly loved relatives and cherished friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 11 AM to 12 Noon Saturday, January 16, 2010. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 12 Noon Saturday at the church with the Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family.
