Obituary for John Whiting

John A. Whiting, loving husband and father, 75, of Oconto, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at his home. John was born February 21, 1931 in Lena to the late Anson and Clara (Barribeau) Whiting. He married Cecelia Rovinsky on march 28, 1951. John was a barber for over 25 years. John loved woodworking and built many things. John served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. John was a member of the AMVETS Post #63 and Holy Trinity Parish. John is survived by his wife Cecelia, Oconto; two daughters Bonnie (Chris) Bitters, Lena; Sandra (Tim) Geyer, Green Bay; two sons Neil (Sue) Whiting, Juneau; James (Judy) Whiting, Green Bay; three sisters Clarabelle Younger, Stiles; Rose Senn, Dunbar; Jenny McCann, Tomah; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters Elizabeth Flynn, Mabel Schaal and two brothers Antone and Eugene Whiting. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 2 to 4 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2007. Memorial services will be conducted 4 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. On line condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
