Janet M. LeMense, 88, of Oconto, died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the Country House, Oconto. Janet was born June 17, 1918 in Batavia, IL to the late Martin and Alma (Johnson) Christensen. Janet grew up in Oconto and graduated from Oconto High School in 1935. She married Norman LeMense on September 20, 1952. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1990. Janet served in the U.S. Army Air Force Nursing Corp. during WWII, serving over seas in Saipan and The Pacific Islands. Janet graduated from Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing where she recieved her R.N. Degree. She worked as a R.N. for Dr. Aageson and Oconto Memorial Hospital. Janet was a wonderful caring person who always looked out for others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially playing skipbo. Janet served as a Deacon and Elder for the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Women?s Association and Guild Circle at the Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge. Janet is survived by two daughters Barbara LeMense, Green Bay; Bonnie LeMense, Green Bay; one son Thomas (Barbara) LeMense, Green Bay; one brother Norbert (Janet) Christensen, FL; one sister Merle Fischer, Waupaca; and two grandchildren Sam and Marty LeMense. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, two sisters Esther Stollenwerk, Carol LaViolette, and one brother Gordon Christensen. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Monday, October 9, 2006. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 10, from 9 to 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted 10 AM Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post #74. On line condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. Special thanks to Chris Mlnarik, Barb, and Sarah from Unity Hospice, and the staff at Country House. Special acknowledgement to her dear friend Carol Panetti and her nieces Sue Le Tourneau and Connie Wendt. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
