Obituary for Irene E. Nerenhausen

Irene Ethel Nerenhausen, 87, entered into Heaven’s Gates on December 12, 2020, at her home in Oconto with her beloved husband and family by her side. She lost her long battle with Alzheimer’s. Irene was born May 17, 1933 in Kipling Saskatchewan, Canada to the late John and Mary (Zaiser) Hirsekorn. She married Donald Nerenhausen on August 17, 1957. Irene served many roles in her church, First American Lutheran, Oconto. She was a member of many Circles and Bible Study groups. Irene worked as the Plant Manager at Jung Shoe Company and also the Oconto Utility Commission. She ran for Mayor of Oconto as a write-in. Irene was a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed playing bridge and loved attending many, many grandchildren activities.

Irene is survived by her husband Donald Nerenhausen; four daughters, Laurie (Tim) Rowinsky, Debbie (Jim) Birenbaum, Jacqueline (Daniel) Robinson, Robin (Eric) Honish; nine grandchildren, Nathan Rowinsky, Zachary Rowinsky, Adam (Johannah Drago) Birenbaum, Kylie (special friend Ryan McVey) Birenbaum, Andrew (Ashely) Robinson, Donavan (Kristi) Robinson, Danielle (special friend Gabe Westhauser) Robinson, Heidi (Addy) Silverthorn, Taylor (special friend Rose Sowin) Motiff; five great grandchildren, Ronnie, Alia, Miles, Samantha, Georgia; in-laws, Clare Brooks, Dorothy Nerenhausen, Marion Nerenhausen, Helen Weber, Linda (Bill) Gallagher; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Esther Brooks, Helen (Norman) Eifert, Ruth (Bill) Armitage, Arline (Richard) Nikolaj; mother and father-in-law, Stella and Frank Nerenhausen; and three brothers-in-law, Gerald Nerenhausen, Chester Nerenhausen and Art Weber.

Due to Covid restrictions services are private but will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/FirstPresbyOconto/, service will begin at 11 AM Thursday December 17th. A memorial service for the public will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net
