Helen L. Stratton, 99, 314 Millidge Ave., Oconto passed peacefully at St. Mary?s Hospital, Green Bay, two weeks before she would have celebrated her 100th birthday. Helen was born June 8 1906 in Oconto to the late Herman and Alvina Riemer. She married James Stratton and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1968. Helen was secretary to the C. E. O. of Barton Dixie Corp, Chicago until her retirement in 1968. Helen loved her pets and they became a part of her family. She contributed generously to pets welfare. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Trustee and also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. A few years ago Helen was delivering meals for ?Meals on Wheels? program. She is survived by a sister Irma Lubtow, Milwaukee; nieces and nephews James (Sue) Schroeder, Oconto; Toby Schroeder, Charleston, S. C.; Sandy (Don) Steinmetz, Stillwater, MN; Bonnie Schroeder, Kissimmee, FL; Larry Stratton, California; many great and great-great nieces and nephews and her pet cat Mickey. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Elizabeth Jean. Friends may call at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 to 8:00 P. M. Friday and at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto from 9:30 to 10:30 A. M. Saturday. Funeral service will be 10:30 A. M. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Church with Rev. Thomas Beck officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. On line condolences may be expressed at www.gallgherfuneralhome.net. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the people that supported Helen in remaining in her home, including Donna Baird, Sharon Bauman Janice Hay, Bill & Linda Gallagher and Dr. John Honish and Harold Woods.
