Giles “Giggs” Donlevy, 88, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, November 6, 2014, surrounded by family. Giggs was born May 30, 1926 to the late Albert and Hazel (Exferd) Donlevy. Giggs enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country in Europe during WWII, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. On December 12, 1953, he married his beloved wife Bernice (Konop) Kesler. Giggs was extremely proud of his Irish heritage which he expressed through his zest for life and his sense of humor. Giggs was a professional truck driver for over forty years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed raising his beloved beagles. He was an active member of the Elks, Oconto American Legion, D.A.V. and the V.F.W.
Giggs is survived by his wife of 60 years and his children: Karen (Vernon) Viestenz, Rene Kesler, Kathy (Dan) Black, Debi (Dennis) Shufelt, Dennis (Dee) Donlevy. Thirteen grandchildren; Kelli Jenkins, Ryan (Jenny Fuller) Viestenz, Keith Kesler, Michelle (Jim) McDowell, Michelle Thompson, Travis (Jenny) Shufelt, Casey Shufelt, Katie Murphy, Erin (Kory) Kramer, Lucas (Danielle Brill) Donlevy, Jacob Donlevy, Stephanie (Ryan Bauer) Donlevy and Melissa Donlevy and fifteen great grandchildren. He is further survived by siblings: Allie (Madeline) Donlevy, Marion (Ralph) Henne, Jack (Phyllis) Donlevy, Loretta (Jerry) Munson, Carol (Vinnie) Bushmaker, Jean (Ronald) Rouer and Dick (Kathy) Donlevy. Giggs was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly (Kesler) Magee, a son, Terry Donlevy and a sister.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday 12 Noon at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites.
