Obituary for Gerald Alvin Brown

Gerald “Jerry” Alvin Brown, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2016. Jerry was born on February 22, 1937 in Peshtigo to the late Alvin Brown and Elaine (Ellis) Reynolds. Jerry served 4 years in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Leyte in 1957. Jerry married LaVonne Woodworth on December 5, 1959. They raised 6 children. Family meant everything to Jerry. He was always there for us. In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Jerry loved to fish and hunt. Jerry was a member of the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, LaVonne Brown; six children, Lori (Mike) Eminger; Kevin (Nancy) Brown; Cindy (Jeff) Brehmer; Lisa (Ted) Juszczyk; Mike (Amy) Brown; Tina (Craig) Harvey; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Judith (Brown) Siegrist.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Monday, September 26, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Monday at the church with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by Oconto American Legion Post #74.
