George J. Kordiyak, 65, of Oconto, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at his home. George was born May 10, 1944 in Governors Island, NY to Dr. George and Lorraine (Polacek) Kordiyak. He married Dianne Leider on April 27, 1984. George received his Bachelors from U. W. Stevens Point and Masters Degree in Zoology from the University of Iowa State. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, serving in Turkey for eighteen months. He was employee of the year at Berlin Memorial Hospital. George enjoyed cooking for family and friends, painting, hunting, and walking his dog. George was a member of the Humane Society (ASCP) and American Association of Clinical Chemists.
George is survived by his wife Dianne, Oconto; mother Lorraine Kordiyak, Oconto; four sons George Kordiyak Jr., Appleton; Donald Kruse, Pinckney, MI; Michael (Julie) Kruse, Bemidji, MN; Robert (Sara) Kruse, Austin, MN; four brothers Peter (Fran Nelson) Kordiyak, Hilbert; Stephen (Jane) Kordiyak, Oconto; David Kordiyak, Boise, ID; Dr. Christopher Kordiyak, Manitowoc; sister Judith (Don) Woodlock, NC; brother-in-law Dale (Cheryl) Leider, Traverse City, MI; grandchildren Rachel, Joey, Bryer, Blake, Alexis, Ian, Isaac Kruse and Gracie Stein. George is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Dr. George Kordiyak, and sister-in-law Debra Leider-Bauer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 6 PM Monday, October 5, 2009. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net
