Fawn Renee (Stout) Shafman, 57, Oconto, passed away Monday, March 07, 2016 with her loving family by her side, after a nearly five year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. She was born on March 3, 1959, in Bermuda at Kindley Air Force Base to Gary and Connie (Melbye) Stout.
Fawn graduated from Wisconsin Rapids High School, Class of 1977. She continued her education at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids and graduated in 1979 with an Associate Degree as a Dietetic Technician. After graduation, Fawn obtained an internship at University Hospital of Madison. She met her husband, James Shafman in August of 1979, in Wisconsin Rapids and they were married on December 29, 1984. Fawn worked for Bellin Health Bond Community Center in Oconto for over 10 years, until her health no longer allowed her to. It was here she formed many lasting friendships. Fawn enjoyed visiting flower gardens, and took great pride in her own flower garden. She could frequently be found working tirelessly to maintain it’s beauty, and received numerous recognitions. Fawn enjoyed traveling cross country with her husband, Jim, and taking mini-vacations at hotels with her family. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
Fawn is survived by her husband of 31 years, James Shafman; daughter and son-in-law, Emilie and Mike Duffy, Oconto; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Laurie Shafman, Green Bay; two step-sons, Aaron (Nicole) Shafman, Green Bay; and Shaun Kinney, Presque Isle, Maine; eight grandchildren, Justin, Devin, Madison, Dominic, Cadence, Kyla, Nolan, and Reed. She is further survived by her parents, Gary and Connie Stout; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Doug and Kathy Stout, and Robin Stout, all of Wisconsin Rapids; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; her father-in-law, David Shafman, and a grandson, Darien.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 10 AM to 12 Noon, Saturday, March 12, 2016. Memorial services will conducted 12 Noon Saturday at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
