Evelyn M. Larmay, 88, Town of Little River, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Grancare Nursing Center, Green Bay. Evelyn was born June 27, 1924 in Coleman to the late Joseph and Mary (Selner) Zoubek. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold L. Larmay on May 10, 2005. The couple was united in marriage on November 21, 1942 at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spruce. The couple farmed in the Town of Little River; Evelyn farmed beside her husband until they retired in 1987. During those years Evelyn also held other jobs, working at Elliot Glove, Oconto, and Frigo Cheese, Lena. Evelyn was the historian for the family: she knew every date that had to do with family from marriages and anniversaries, never missing an event. She would have been lost without her scissors clipping newspaper articles that had to do with family and friends. She was an avid reader to the extent that if you were ill or needed to know something, she had the answer and if she didn’t, she would find it for you. After living on the farm and raising three boys, Evelyn was famous for her cooking abilities and a nack of having something to whip up in a moments time. Evelyn made sure you never went hungry when you were in her home, and it was a home. A more loving mother and grandmother could not be found. Evelyn is survived by three sons, Robert (Mavis) Larmay, Randal (Connie) Larmay, Kerry (Lori) Larmay, all of the Town of Little River; four grandchildren, Scott Larmay, Krys (Tom) Burke, Dr. Heather (Steve) Wichman, Rhiannon Larmay; step-granddaughter, Rachel Olson, and one great granddaughter, Claire Burke. Evelyn was preceded in death by a sister, Violet (Ted) Cudnohosky, twin brothers, Ervin and Leonard Zoubek and infant brother, Joseph Zoubek; brothers-in-law Lloyd (Lola) Larmay, Ervin Larmay, Donald (Madeline) Larmay and Nick Hugo. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, December 18, 2012 with Prayer services by Fr. Celestine Byekwaso at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 19 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena from 10 to 11 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday at the church with Fr. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Lena. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. Special thank you to the staff at Grancare Nursing Center for their compassion and support during her years staying there. She had made many friends with the staff and her roommate Carol Shafman.
