Obituary for Eugene 'Red' Colson

Eugene "Red" Colson, 80, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Woodlands of Oconto. Eugene was born November 20, 1930 in Oconto to the late Roy and Laura (Exferd) Colson. He married Esther Johnson on August 8, 1964. Eugene worked at Bond Pickle for 42 years. For many years he made nick knacks for little children. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. Eugene served in the National Guard for 18 years in Company C, 127th infantry division.. He was a member of the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, and the AMVETS Post 63.

Eugene is survived by his wife Esther Colson, Oconto; daughter Brenda (Brian) Hartwig, Peshtigo; and four grandchildren Gus, Zachary, Josh and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by a son Harold Roy Colson, 4sisters and 5 brothers.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 5 at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery. Military Rites by the American Legion Post 74. On line condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
