Elaine A. Kopke, 84 of Little Suamico, was called home by her loving Savior Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital, Green Bay, with her family by her side. Elaine was born December 18, 1926 in Green Bay to the late Henry and Winifred (Pieschek) Conrad. She married Joseph F. Kopke Jr. on April 15, 1944. Elaine enjoyed cooking and gardening, especially her flowers. She worked at the Suamico Box factory, 1945 and 1946, at the Oconto Memorial Hospital, 1976 to 1978, and at Liquid Carbonic, Oconto in 1979. Elaine loved being a grandmother and was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, Stiles and Gold Star Mothers.
Elaine leaves behind her husband, of 67 years, Joseph F. Kopke Jr., Lt. Suamico; a son, Henry (fiancee Linda Gaywont) Kopke, Oconto; four daughters, Diane Kopke-Ruohonen, Hobart; Rita (Alan) Garbrecht, Oconto Falls; Jane (Michael) Specht, Lt. Suamico; Dr. Carol Kopke, Chicago, IL; a daughter-in-law Betty Kopke, Green Bay; two sisters, Alice Gaywont, Oconto; Lorraine Behnke, Coleman; fondly thought of four sisters-in-law Claudine Conrad, Lena; Joanne Conrad, Lena; Bernadine Zimanick, Lt. Suamico; Irene Kopke, Pulaski; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by three sons, Roger, Joseph III and Timothy Kopke, two sisters Marilyn (Steven) Kokai, Eunice (Elery) Tachick, an infant grandchild and grandson Ricky Kopke, four brothers Richard, Cletus, Clayton and Harold Conrad, and a brother-in-law John Gaywont.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 9 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 with prayer services by Deacon Walter Kaszynski at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, May 12th from 10 to 11 AM at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Stiles. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 11 AM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will be at St. Patricks Cemetery, Stiles. On line condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net
