Obituary for Doris Rhode

Doris M. Rhode, 79, of Oconto, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at her home. Doris was a cancer survivor, being diagnosed back in 1989. Doris was born November 19, 1926 in Oconto to the late Henry and Mary (DePouw) DeWindt. She married Don Rhode on September 4, 1948 and would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in just a few weeks. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris had many hobbies including sewing, golfing, crafts, bowling, camping, traveling, cooking, gardening, and bird watching. Doris was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Doris is survived by her husband Don Rhode, Oconto; two daughters Barb Wietor, Green Bay; Julie (Jeff) Vandenbush, Green Bay; three sons Jim (Carla Krepline) Rhode, Laurel, MS; Jerry (Jodi Heurlin) Rhode, Oconto; Steve (Laura) Rhode, Iron Mountain, MI; twelve grandchildren Tracy (Chris) Rowth, Brad Rhode, Tina Buss, Mike (Jenny) Kobriger, Trish (Jared) Juline, Adam (Laura) Vandenbush, Heather Vandenbush, Jennifer (Travis) Frischmann, Kristine Rhode, Mark Rhode, Chris Rhode, Travis Rhode, nine great grandchildren Angie Rowth, Jordan Rowth, Peter Rowth, Matthew Kobriger, Brandon Buss, Dayne Kobriger, Jade Juline, Eric Vandenbush, Joseph Vandenbush, two brothers Ed (Elsie) DeWindt, Oconto; Leon (Barb) DeWindt, Oconto, Aunt Mabel DePouw, Oconto; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers Raymond and Donald DeWindt and one sister Erna DeWindt. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, August 29, 2006, with prayer services at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. On line condolences may be express at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
