Obituary for Donald A. Glynn

Don A. Glynn, 91, Town of Oconto, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at home with his wife by his side. He was born December 6, 1925 to the late Lloyd and Pearl (Classon) Glynn at Coulliardville. He attended Coulliardville Grade School and graduated in 1943 from Oconto High School. In 1952 Don married Betty Williams at First Presbyterian Church, Oconto. Don farmed with his father on the family farm until 1963, then worked for a short time in the office of Oconto Memorial Hospital. He then started in 1963 as a bank teller at First National Bank, Oconto and worked in various capacities with the bank, then having footings of 4,685,710.00. Don attended the Graduate School of Banking, Madison, WI, Northern Michigan School of Banking, Marquette, MI, and many institutes of banking in Green Bay taking night courses. In November 1972 Don was promoted to Executive Vice President with bank footings of 18,886,000.00 and shortly thereafter to President. Don retired from the bank in 1985 with footings of 45,894,000. He served on Oconto Memorial Hospital Board for 16 years, was treasurer of the Town of Oconto for 49 years, and served on the Oconto County Board for 24 years. Don was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, and over 60 year member of Oconto Masonic Pine Lodge 188.

Don is survived by his wife, Betty Glynn; one daughter, Sue (Gary) Staponkus, Geneva, IL; one son, Lloyd (Susan) Glynn, Arbor Vitae; grandchildren, Eric & Brett Staponkus, and Jeremy & Maryjane Glynn; great grandchildren, Elise, Alex and Elliott Staponkus.

The family will receive relatives and friends at First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Monday, November 6, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Monday at the church with Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuenralhome.net.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Oconto First Presbyterian Church or Bread by the Bay food pantry.
