M. Clayton Alsteen, 79, of Lena, passed away, after a short battle with Leukemia, peacefully at home in the loving arms of his wife. Clayton was born March 13, 1936 in Lena to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Casper) Alsteen. He married Joan Morgan in 1958. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1982. On February 19, 2015 Clayton married Geri Gilles. Clayton enjoyed over 50 years of working at Jackie Foster, Inc. He loved his wife Geri and all of his family. Clayton enjoyed hunting at the Ranch, playing cards, operating heavy equipment, going to the casino and wintering in sunny Florida. Clayton served his Country in US Air Force from 1954 to 1958. Clayton was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Stiles, and the Sportsman Club.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Geri Gilles; five children, Marie (Dan)Pagel; Sue (Kevin) Gammill; Carrie Alsteen; Sharon Hart; Shannon (Paul) Halverson; nine step-children, Terence Gilles; Tim Brennan; Steve (Diane) Uphill; Debbie Gilles; Glen Gilles; Beth (John) Schachner; Mike (Nancy) Gilles; Joe Gilles; Traci (Chris) Land; twenty one grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Ruth Trudell; JoAnn O’Neil; Armond (Phyllis) Alsteen; Russ (Roberta) Alsteen; Beverly Conant; step-brothers and sisters, Rick (Eileen) Koebach; Renetta Benedum; Shirley (Vernon) Lockstein; Donnie (Tammy) Koebach. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin; sister, Donna (Howard) Goessel; brothers-in-law, Robert O’Neil; Dave Trudell; Dale Conant; and step-daughter, Diane Gilles-Uphill.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Stiles, from 9 to 11 AM Friday, October 16, 2015. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Military Rites by American Legion Post, Oconto.
