Chester Charles Staidl, 87, of Town of Little River, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at Bishops Court CBRF in Green Bay. Chester was born July 14, 1922 in Porterfield to the late Charles Edward and Lillian (Sedo) Staidl. He married Shirley Cota on December 25, 1941. Chester delivered petroleum products for many years, and owned and operated his own company. He enjoyed meeting and serving the many customers on his route. He also raised beef cattle with his son on the family farm. Chester served as president and treasurer during his 18 years of office on the Lena School Board, also elected to hold these offices for the Lena Lions Club; he served as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Oconto, was also a member of the Farm Bureau, County Line Grange and Odd Fellows organizations. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, entertaining with family and friends. Chester had 3 hole-in-ones at three different golf courses. He also played and coached baseball.
Chester is survived by his wife Shirley Staidl, Green Bay; three daughters Barbara (Richard) Jorgensen, Green Bay; Marcia Staidl, Green Bay; Judy Ferris, Oconto; a brother-in-law Lloyd (Doris) Cota, Green Bay; six grandchildren Jeffrey (Nicole) Jorgensen, Carolyn (fiancee Robert Fuhr) Jorgensen, Beth (Aaron) Zingler, Beau Ferris, Chad Staidl, Jerid Staidl . Chester was preceded in death by a son Charles Chester Staidl and a brother Maynard Staidl.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 2:30 to 5:30 PM Thursday, September 24. Funeral services will be conducted 5:30 PM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.
