Obituary for Catherine Brill

Catherine Brill, 83, Oconto, passed away peacefully September 12, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Walter and Catherine (Sheffner) Reible on December 8, 1937 in Milwaukee. She was married to the late James Brill in 1953. Cathy was an ambitious woman who was always up for a challenge. She took a leap of faith and decided to purchase a resort, that her family once vacationed at, which was flooded by a storm,. Brill’s Hideaway Resort was born. Although it was a lot of hard work running the resort and raising a family of seven, she enjoyed it. There were a lot of wonderful memories made there. In the twenty some years while running the resort Cathy and her best friend Shirley Golonka decided to open a local Sears store which they operated for several years. After closing the resort and the store she opened Whats Hot Videos and Antiques until she decided to retire. Cathy was a caring and loving mother who was cherished by all who had the privilege to know her. It was easy to engage in conversation with her as she had much knowledge and wisdom to offer to anyone she met. Cathy always stated happiness is; staying bill free, saving for a rainy day, loving a lot, laughing a lot, praying a lot, pain free. She was a good listener, had a heart of gold and loved to have fun. Cathy had an interest in antiques and was a collector of perfume bottles, the beauty of them inspired her. She enjoyed watching old movies, animal planet and listening to country music. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family, the late Ellis Mercier and of course her dogs, Peanut and Peaches.

Cathy was proud of her children; Debra (Mark)Hencke, James Brill Jr., Joseph (Stacy) Brill, Daniel (Tammie) Brill; a sister, Delores Zagorski; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and special friend Robin. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Rhonda Sowle, Sandra Brill, Diane Pecor; and ten brothers and sisters.

Cathy’s wishes were to be cremated and have a private service held by her family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net

A special thank you to the Unity Hospice team who provided our mother with care, help and support during this time.
