Obituary for Carol E. Panetti

Carol E. Panetti of Oconto passed away at home on February 8, 2014, from breast cancer. Carol was born on January 13, 1927 to the late Grover and Jessie (Hammill) Behringer. Carol graduated from Oconto Falls High School in the class of 1945. She attended Bellin College of Nursing, graduating in 1948. Carol married Robert Panetti on August 6, 1949 at the Church of Christ in Hickory. Carol was a kind, caring and compassionate nurse at Oconto Hospital for 40 years. She was also a very loving and dedicated mother and dear friend to many. Carol retired in 1990, to care for Bob until he passed away on June 12, 1998. During Bob and Carol’s marriage, they enjoyed playing cards, square dancing and pontooning with friends. When their sons became of age, Bob was Scout Master, and Carol a Den Mother. After Bob passed, Carol enjoyed traveling to Kiawah Island, South Carolina and Canada for the past 21 years. Carol was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Oconto Hospital Auxiliary, Oconto County Historical Society, and was a member of First American Lutheran Church belonging to the Sarah Circle. Carol served many funeral luncheons, and made coffee for the annual Harvest Supper until age 85.

Carol is survived by two sons, John (Joan) Panetti, Kaukauna; James (Helen) Panetti, DePere; grandchildren, Nicole Panetti, Thomas (fiancee Amanda Swanson) Panetti, Daniel (Megan) Panetti, Michael (fiancee Rebeca Christensen) Panetti, and Lauren (Dustin) Dupart. Carol is further survived by her brother Roger Behringer, and sisters-in-law, Diane Panetti and Lois (Woody) House, nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, daughter-in-law, Barbara Hermsen Panetti, and nephew, Daniel Behringer.

Carol’s biggest joy in life was helping and giving to others in need. Carol especially enjoyed spending time with children and sharing her special Rice Krispie bars.
