Obituary for Betty Glynn

Betty Glynn of rural Oconto passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022. She was born in Highland, WI on November 10, 1925 to Andrew and Emma (Weis) Williams. Her formal name was Mary Elizabeth Glynn, but family and friends always knew her as Betty. She was valedictorian of her Highland High School class and went on to proudly graduate from the Saint Mary's School of Nursing in Milwaukee. With the help of friends, she moved to Oconto to begin her 43 year career as a Registered Nurse at the Oconto Memorial Hospital. There she met and married Donald Glynn and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Betty was an active member and Sunday School teacher at the First Presbyterian Church, long time 4-H leader, and member of the Farnsworth Library Board. She utilized her nursing skills to operate one of the first home dialysis sites in northern Wisconsin. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and she and Don traveled extensively in retirement. Betty retained her nursing skills right to the end, helping family and friends with medical challenges.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, daughter, Sue (Gary) Staponkus and grandson, Brett Staponkus, sisters, Phil and Emily, brothers, Marc, Earl, Melvin, Joe, George and Norbert. She is survived by son, Lloyd (Sue) Glynn, grandson, Jeremy Glynn and Sarah, granddaughter Maryjane (Ben) Williams, grandson, Eric (Jessica) Staponkus and their children, Elise, Alex and Elliott.

A grave side service will be held in the future. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
Special thanks to Joyce and Bob Champeau and Joy and Norbert Campshure and the wonderful neighbors who enabled Betty to stay on the family farm for so long, and to the special people at The Cottages who made her final months so pleasant.
