Bernice Jeanette Donlevy, Oconto; It is with very heavy hearts that the children of Bernice Donlevy announce that their beautiful mother has left this earth to be with her husband Giles “Giggs”, daughter, Beverly and son, Terry. Bernice passed away at Woodland Villages Nursing Center in Oconto on Sunday, February 25, 2018 with her children at her side. She was born March 5, 1926 to the late Simon and Bessie (Chadek) Konop in the Town of Lena. She was the youngest of 10 children. On December 12, 1953, she married Giles “Giggs” Donlevy. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2014. Together they raised seven wonderful children. She was an extremely hard worker, who worked all her life in Oconto. She loved to cook and used her skill to make Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and family gatherings special, and making memories was important to her. She was well known for her famous potato salad, for which she received many requests. There were also many friends who enjoyed her homemade sauerkraut, head cheese, and blood sausage. She loved spending time with family & friends at their cottage in Lakewood, and she enjoyed meeting new people. She was a member of the Lady Elks Auxiliary, and she looked forward to doing the venison feed for the elderly.
Bernice will be sadly missed by her children, Karen (Vernon) Viestenz, Rene Kesler, Kathy (Dan) Black, Debi (Dennis) Shufelt, Dennis (Dee) Donlevy. She was blessed with 13 wonderful grandchildren; Kelli Jenkins (Aron Ferris), Ryan Viestenz, Keith Kesler, Michelle (Jim) McDowell, Michelle Thompson, Travis (Jenny) Shufelt, Casey Shufelt, Katie Murphy, Erin Kramer (Matt Rheingans), Lucas (Danielle) Donlevy, Jacob Donlevy (Danielle), Stephanie (Ryan) Bauer and Melissa Donlevy. She is further survived by her 17 great grandchildren, Brodey, Kylee, Dalton, Emily, Hannah, Lauren, Samantha, Taytum, Ivy, Isabelle, Silas, Jaala, Leda, Rylee, Carson, Benjamin, Bradlee. Also surviving are five brothers-in-law, Alfred (Madeline) Donlevy, Jack (Phyllis) Donlevy, Dick (Kathy) Donlevy, Ralph Henne, Vincent Bushmaker, and two sisters-in-law, Loretta (Jerry) Munson, and Jean (Ronald) Rouer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto, from 9 to 11 AM Thursday, March 1, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Woodland Village Nursing Center, and Dr. Genadi Maltinski for their excellent care of our mother, and a very special thank you to Unity Hospice for their care and compassion.
