Bartley Martha Allen, 90, of Little Suamico, passed away on July 5, 2012, at Country House in Oconto. Bartley was born on May 17, 1922 in Duck Creek to Mathias and Celena (Carter) Reinhard. She graduated from West High School and worked at VanderZanden Jewelry. On June 5, 1942, Bartley married Douglas E. Allen and they celebrated 69 years of marriage. While Doug was away during WWII, Bartley worked for Bell Lumber and the Red Cross, sewing parachutes for the military. Bartley and Doug raised their family and farmed on the Allen homestead in Little Suamico. Mom always had molasses cookies for the Grandchildren and they called her “Cookie Grandma”. Mom was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Bartley is survived by a son Douglas L. (Susan) Allen, Little Suamico; five daughters Christine (Robert Jr.) Walters, Oconto Falls; Lynn (Larry) VanHoof, Peshtigo; Jeanine (Richard) Kramer, Green Bay; Joy (Timothy) Hogan, Little Suamico; Penny (Lee) Helmle, Little Suamico; sisters-in-law, Helen Langenberg and Marian Allen; Grandchildren Douglas Allen Jr., Deanne (Dale) Baker, Sara (Todd) Holman, Robyn (Alan) Weber, Jacob (Mayme) Allen, Jessica (Joel) Delzer, Zachary Allen, Eric Walters, Ryan (Lisa) Walters, Sara (Al) Rosina, Heather (Christopher) Dennett, Dr. Jody (Eric) Langford, Lance VanHoof, Travis (Lindsay) Berg, Shannon (Mark) Gabriel, Chase Hogan, Chelsie Hogan, Cory (Ashley) Helmle, Courtney Helmle, Haylee Helmle and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas E. Allen on July 4, 2011, her parents Mathias and Celena Reinhard, a sister Inez Kujava, a brother Carter Reinhard, a step-father John Langenberg, a step-brother Willard Langenberg. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, July 8, 2012. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 9 from 9 to 10 AM at St. Pius Catholic Church, Little Suamico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at the church with Fr. Gerald A. Prusakowski O. F. M. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. Bartley’s family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Country House and Southern Care Hospice. There are truly angels among us.
