Allen C. “Allie” Young, 91, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, surrounded by his wife and family, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay. Allie was born December 11, 1922 in Oconto to the late Sam and Harriet (Dennisen) Young. He married Genevieve Marie Brabant on July 27, 1963 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Oconto. Allie was a life long farmer and also worked as a Janitor for the Oconto School District for 25 years and drove school bus for Lane Bus Service for 22 years. He played baseball and softball for Cream City and many other teams, and also enjoyed playing cards with his family and the Golden Agers Card Club. Allie served as Constable for the Town of Oconto, Oconto County Deputy Sheriff, Town of Oconto Supervisor, member of Civil Defense of Oconto, St. Joseph School board and Town of Little River election board. He was a very active member of Holy Trinity Parish and a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus.
Allie, the last surviving child of the Sam Young family, is survived by his wife of fifty years, Genevieve Young, Oconto; son, Greg A. Young, Oconto; two daughters, Cheryl A Beekman, Oconto; Terri Jo (Eric) Riesselman, Cedar Grove; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Young, Oconto; Helen Young, Green Bay; ten grandchildren, Josh, Theresa, Debbie, Mike, Abbie, Sam, Chris, Hannah, Zachary, James and two great grandchildren, Parker and Cameron. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Ted, Harry, Tom, Robert, Bernard and Gordon Young, and three sisters, Frances Mae Koehne, Henrietta Couillard and Patricia Mathey.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 PM followed by a prayer services by Deacon Walter Kaszynski. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 Noon Wednesday, May 7 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto. Burial will be at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
