Obituary for Alice Mae (Majeski) Peterson

Alice Mae (Majeski) Peterson, 91, of Oconto, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 19, 2010, at Bay Shore Pines, Oconto. Alice was born May 29, 1918, in Krakow to the late Joseph and Victoria (Jagialski) Majeski. She married Loyal Peterson on April 19, 1942. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1983. After Loyal died she lived in an apartment above her son Dr. Loyals residence. Then in 1991 after a debilitating stroke she lived with her daughter Donna for a year. She then lived independently for ten years in Okato Manor, then three years with her granddaughter Jodi, and her final years at Bay Shore Pines. Alice enjoyed crocheting, knitting, traveling, crossword puzzles, scrabble, entering contests, music by Elvis Presley, Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers, and collecting angels and Hummels, and above all, caring for her grandchildren.

Alice is survived by three daughters Donna (Ted) Van Rossum, Suamico; Victoria (special friend Curt Arnold) Bostedt, Oconto; Cathy Peterson, Clintonville; a son Dr. Loyal (Kathy) Peterson Jr., Oconto; grandchildren John (Julie) Bostedt, Jeff Bostedt, Jodi Bostedt, Eric (Amy) Peterson, Steve Peterson, and great grandchildren Bryce, Brady, Brea Bostedt, Duncan Birmingham, Mary and Brooke Peterson. two brothers Chester (Dorothy) Majeski, Casco; Lenard (Anna) Majeski, Fredericksburg, VA; two sisters-in-law Delores Majeski, Seymour; Virginia Majeski, Green Bay; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a son Mark Peterson, five brothers Edward (Sophie) Majeski, Elmer Majeski, Alex (Rose) Majeski, Lucien (Frances) Majeski, Dr. Henry Majeski, and a sister Lottie (August) Sobanek.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Visitation will continue on Thursday, April 22 at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Burial will be at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Green Valley, following the meal. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the entire staff at Bay Shore Pines, to Chris and the staff from Unity Hospice and to her special buddy, granddaughter Jodi, for all the love and care shown to Grandma.
